A NEW drone business covering Cumbria and south-west Scotland is about to be launched.

The venture is called, The Skycam, and involves all aspects of aerial and video photography as well as surveys and inspections, and many outside events.

The brainchild behind the business is Mark Charters, who says he is a Civil Aviation Authority qualified pilot and hopes to provide ‘fly though’ videography for properties for sale.

Mark said: “With my thermal imaging drone I can also assist in search and rescue missions.

“This drone can also be used to find heat loss in buildings and can be used in the agricultural industry. It is a business for the residential as well as the commercial sector.

“I have already supplied Carlisle United with some pre-season footage.”

There is more to being a drone pilot than just buying a machine and flying in your backyard. It can be that simple, but most of us will need to understand some drone laws before we try to take to the sky.
