Born in Trafford, PA
Upon graduation from Trafford High School he received a full Navy Scholarship to RPI (Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy NY. Completed his Degree in Industrial Engineering with the Class of 1957. While attending RPI he met and married his wife Carol, they have been together for 63 1/2 years.
In the Navy one of his many projects was working with the Navy on the USS Hazelwood (DD531) Destroyer, developing the Drone project called (DASH). After the Navy he worked for Brunswick Corporation in Marion, VA one of his many projects was developing the first home pool table. Then onto Rubbermaid in Wooster, OH where he worked on developing their inventory and shipping system.
From there he relocated to Porter Paint Co. in Louisville, KY where one of his major projects was to configure and designe the modernized shipping system in the new warehouse for distribution of products from Louisville to all retail locations around the country.
While in Louisville he also got his Private Pilot’s License, Instructor License, Commercial License and Commercial Instructor’s License. He has many students who are now flying commercially. He has flown all over the country on vacations, visiting friends and family.
After early retirement and Carol’s retirement they purchased a 40 foot motor home and traveled the US for 3 1/2 years until settling in the Village at Riverwalk in North Post, FL. As was his way he did many projects in the community from making individual resident’s home signs, sitting on the board and calling Bingo for the Snow Bird Season.
Jim is survived by his wife, Carol, daughter Joy Julian, two grandchildren Dawn Julian and Kismet Julian Happel, many cousins, nieces and nephews. His son James Robert Julian (Rob) passed away in 2006
